Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II raises the bar for drama in gaming. The writing brings a depth to the medium rarely seen, and the words are brought to such exquisite life by the talented performers. Video game acting has gotten more detailed in recent years due to the improvements in technology and the greater care given to it during production.

For anyone who loves the actors in Naughty Dog's most recent opus, they should check out their other popular roles. The following examples come both from film and other video games. Here's hoping each performer gets more time to shine a future Last of Us story.

10 Laura Bailey - Critical Role

Laura Bailey

Laura Bailey excellently pulls off the character of Abby as players go from hating the woman's guts to sympathizing and potentially rooting for her by the ending.

For a more upbeat environment in which to view her talents, check out the web series Critical Role, where actors go through Dungeons and Dragons campaigns. She also played Nadine in Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy.

9 Ashley Scott - Birds Of Prey

Ashley scott

Maria has a small, but important role in both games, being Tommy's wife and one of the leaders in the Jackson settlement. Ashley Scott primarily worked in television before landing her role in the seminal video game.

She starred as the Huntress in the short-lived television show Birds of Prey in the early 2000s, recently reprising her role in the Arrowverse "Crisis On Infinite Earth" crossover. She also played a supporting role in Jericho, another show with a cult following.

8 Alejandro Edda - Narcos Mexico

Alejandro edda

Manny is Abby's roommate in the WLF encampment and proves to be one of the least beloved characters for several reasons.

None of these were the fault of Alejandro Edda, however, since his prior work shows his acting prowess in full force. In addition to Narcos Mexico, he can also be seen in several episodes of Fear the Walking Dead during the show's 2016 season.

7 Patrick Fugit - Wristcutters: A Love Story

Patrick fugit

Owen was the love of Abby's life, but they broke up and he started a relationship with Mel because of her obsession with vengeance. Unfortunately, both him and Mel meet terrible ends in the game's halfway point.

Those who want more of Owen can watch Wristcutters: A Love Story, a dark comedy about people living in limbo after committing suicide. Tom Waits also plays a supporting role and the music of Gogol Bordello is featured throughout the picture.

6 Jeffrey Wright - Westworld

Jeffrey Wright

Just pointing out one iconic role of Jeffrey Wright is difficult. The actor has shown his talent time and time again in various films and television shows.

One can easily add the Isaac character from The Last of Us Part II to this list. Even though he only has a few scenes, you can feel the character's menacing nature just from the few minutes of screen time he has in the story.

5 Ashley Johnson - Avengers

Ashley Johnson

Ashley Johnson goes into some dark places as Ellie. Fortunately, a lighter side of her shines in Critical Role. She was also in Joss Whedon's interpretation of the classic Shakespeare comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

Her career would have played out much differently if her minor role in The Avengers was expanded in future films. She was planned to be Captain America's love interest, but that obviously never came to pass. Playing one of the decade's most iconic new video game characters is arguably a better prize, however.

4 Ashley Burch - Life Is Strange

Ashley Burch

Some may recognize Ashley Burch from the Hey Ash Whatcha Playin'!? web series. She got her start doing voice-over work in Borderlands 2 as Tiny Tina, a role she reprised for Borderlands 3.

A more dramatic effort on her part was the role of Chloe in Life is Strange. Mel may just have that beat in terms of drama, however.

3 Jeffrey Pierce - Bosch

Jeffrey Pierce

Tommy sure gets the short end of the stick by the game's conclusion. Not only does he lose an eye and gain a limp, but he also separates from his wife Maria.

To see the actor play a more whole character, just watch Bosch on Amazon Prime. He shows up in the third season. Here's hoping Tommy lives through the trip to Santa Barbara and returns in a future game.

2 Shannon Woodward - Westworld

shannon woodward

Westworld is perhaps the most popular show Shannon Woodward has appeared on.

Fans of more laidback sitcoms will know her from Raising Hope as the quirky love interest to the main character who sleeps with a stocking on her head because she is scared of spiders. Dina does not practice the same routine, however, since a stocking would do little to protect clickers.

1 Troy Baker - Uncharted 4

Troy Baker

Troy Baker became a household name with his portrayal of Joel in The Last of Us. He had been working for a while beforehand, however, with dozens of performances prior.

He played Snow in Final Fantasy XIII. In 2016, he worked with Naughty Dog once again to play Nathan Drake's brother, Sam, in Uncharted 4. To hear him sound completely unrecognizable, however, play Batman: Arkham Origins, where he voices the Joker.
