During the Electronic Arts quarterly earnings call, company executives spoke about their plans and expectations for Star Wars Battlefront 2. During the call, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the company expects to sell around 14 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront 2 during in the game’s first five months.

Jorgensen reminded listeners on the call that 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront shipped 14 million units between its release and the end of that fiscal year, which ended in March 2016. Electronic Arts expects to ship “essentially the same number” of Star Wars Battlefront 2 copies in that same time frame.

Naturally, EA would like to sell more copies of the sequel than the original, and its plans for Star Wars Battlefront 2 seem to reflect that. This time around, gamers can look forward to a single-player campaign that offers a robust, compelling experience, along with the expected multiplayer game modes.

Additionally, a developer at Criterion recently spilled the beans that virtual reality may be in the cards at some point for Star Wars Battlefront 2. With such an expansive universe, it makes sense that Star Wars Battlefront 2 would offer a VR experience.

During the earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson discussed a few more details about Star Wars Battlefront 2. Wilson mentioned that the content in the game will be over three times the size of its predecessor at launch. It’s unknown how much of that will be the single-player experience, but it’s nice to know EA is thinking bigger this time around.

Wilson also revealed that EA is planning a “very, very robust” live service plan for the game, which it plans to discuss in greater detail around EA Play and E3. Hopefully the direction will be along the lines of the free DLC sported by Titanfall 2, instead of a paid Season Pass or expansions. A few weeks ago, EA hinted that there wouldn’t be a Season Pass, but then walked back those comments with the promise that more information would be inbound soon.

If Star Wars Battlefront 2 can provide a compelling, interesting experience that meets and even exceeds gamer expectations, EA shouldn’t have any trouble matching or beating the success of Star Wars Battlefront.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to release November 17, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
